How does a nonprofit team keep track of who's doing what?
Put every task in one shared list and give each one an owner and a due date. Check it off when it's done. Start a timer or log time on a task and it shows In progress on its own. Your organization's owners and admins see every task. Coordinators see their programs. Everyone sees what's assigned to them, or to a group they're in, so nothing lives in one person's head and no task gets done twice. The names come from the real people you keep in Volunteers and Time.
What's a simple task tool for a nonprofit team?
Ember Work is a shared to-do tool built for nonprofit teams. You group tasks into projects, put a name and a date on each one, and check them off as they're done. No setup weekend, and no per-person fee.
How do tasks connect to our programs?
Every project belongs to a program, so the work always ties back to what it's for. A project can stand in for a program goal. Finish all its tasks and that goal is marked done in Programs, so you never update two places.
How do we keep things from slipping through the cracks?
Tasks with a due date rise to the top, soonest first, and anything overdue shows in red. Undated tasks sit below in an order you set. Have something overdue or due in the next seven days? You get one email that Monday listing it, so your next step is always in front of you.
Can we see how far along a project is?
Yes. Each project shows how many steps are done out of the total, with a progress bar. Everyone sees the goal getting closer instead of guessing. Projects in progress sort to the top, so the active work leads.
What happens when we finish a project?
Ember asks for a quick reflection: a win worth sharing, and one thing you’d do differently next time. It lands on the program in Programs, where a win can become a story in one tap. The note about next time stays with your team.
Do we have to assign every task to someone?
No. A task can sit as Unassigned until someone picks it up. When you're ready, give it to one person or to a whole group, like the gala committee or your Saturday crew. Everyone in the group sees it on their own list, and whoever gets there first checks it off. Owners and admins set up groups in Settings. Want just one group's projects? Your staff can pick it under Show work for. And you can reassign a task any time things shift.
Do we need the other Ember apps?
No, Work stands on its own. Add Programs and your projects tie to real program goals, so finishing the work moves the goal. Owners come from the same people you already keep in Time and Volunteers.
