Is Giving part of Ember?
Yes, it’s one of the Ember apps, on the same login as Volunteers, Grants, and the rest. One account for your whole nonprofit, free for small nonprofits.
Does Ember collect donations?
No. Ember isn’t a payment processor and never handles the money. You record the gifts you receive, however they come in, and Ember helps you thank and steward the people behind them. If you want a simple way for supporters to give, your public page can carry a Donate button that points wherever you already take donations.
Is it a donor CRM?
It’s a light stewardship layer, not a fundraising tool. It keeps each donor’s giving history from the gifts you record in Giving, helps you thank them, and flags who has gone quiet. Grant payments and earned income stay in Budget. You can also import an existing donor list, with its past gifts, by CSV. Your donor list is always yours to export.
Is it really free?
Yes. It's free for small nonprofits, with unlimited users and no trial clock. As your budget grows, a simple subscription scales with it, and every tier includes every app.
Do we have to be a 501(c)(3)?
No. Ember is for nonprofits and the people starting them: grassroots groups, all-volunteer teams, fiscally sponsored projects, and founders still getting set up. No paperwork needed to start.
