How do nonprofits track grants and deadlines?
Every grant lives in one pipeline, from considering to awarded to closed, and every report deadline, and the deadline of each application you are still writing, sits in one list, soonest first. Ember emails your owners and admins 30 days before each deadline, a week before and on the day. If a report runs late, it keeps nudging once a week, and your ten spreadsheets can finally retire.
How do you report back to a funder?
Each grant records what it funds, whether specific programs or the whole organization, and the program goals it supports. Ember fills in progress on those goals from your real program data, so when a report is due it's already taking shape.
Can Ember help us find grants to apply for?
Not directly. Ember links you to Candid to look for funders. You add the ones worth chasing to your pipeline, or import the list you already keep in a spreadsheet.
How do you keep restricted grant money straight?
Each awarded grant shows its spend-down: the costs you record in Budget for the programs it funds, within its grant period, measured against the award. Restricted balances are kept by program in Budget.
Do we have to be a 501(c)(3)?
No. Grassroots groups, all-volunteer teams, fiscally sponsored projects and founders still getting set up are all welcome, and you don't need any paperwork to start. If we ever add nonprofit-only pricing, we'll check status for that alone, never to let you in.
Is it really free?
