What it adds up to

A small team paying for every tool above with a monthly price would spend about $557 a month, or about $6,681 a year, before any giving fees. You probably don't pay for all of them. Check the ones you do in the calculator to see your own number.

How to keep the bill down

  1. Ask for the nonprofit price

Asana, Airtable, monday.com, Trello and Canva all publish nonprofit programs. Each asks you to apply first, so do it before you need the tool.

  2. Watch per-person pricing

A tool priced per user or per board seat costs more each time someone joins. Read how each pricing model works before you sign.

  3. Count the time, too

Tools that don't share records mean typing the same number twice and chasing it at report time. A cheap tool that costs you an evening a week is not cheap.

  4. Compare before you renew

The Little Green Light, Bloomerang, Givebutter and Zeffy alternatives pages list prices and who each tool fits.

Prices and company facts were read from each vendor's own pages on the date shown above and change often. Nothing here is legal, tax or purchasing advice. Check the vendor's current pricing page before you decide, and read your own contract before you switch.

Common questions

How much does nonprofit software cost?

It depends on the tool and your team size. In the published 2026 prices on this page, a common paid tool costs from about $13 to about $147 a month for a small team, and paying for all eleven with a monthly price comes to about $557 a month. Nearly every category also has a free or low-cost option.

Is there free software for nonprofits?

Yes. Zeffy, and Givebutter with tips on, charge nonprofits nothing for donation forms. SignUpGenius and Clockify have free versions. monday.com gives nonprofits 10 free Pro seats, Canva Pro is free for eligible 501(c)(3)s, and Google Sites is free with Google Workspace for Nonprofits. Ember is free if your budget is under $50K a year.

What should a small nonprofit pay for first?

Start with the job that costs you the most time each week, not the tool with the most features. If you are not sure, start with the records you would hate to lose, like donors and gifts.

How does Ember's price compare?

Ember is free if your budget is under $50K a year. Above that it is $29, $99 or $299 a month, billed yearly, set by your budget band, with every app and unlimited users on every tier. See pricing.
