Is it really free?
Yes. There is a real free plan — no credit card, no trial clock. If Ember saves your team real time, we ask you to contribute what your organization can afford.
Do you do payroll?
No, and we do not plan to. Ember records where time went; your payroll system pays people. We are built to sit alongside Gusto, Paychex or whoever you use — not to replace them.
Who can see salary information?
Only the people who should. Owners and admins see pay; anyone approving timesheets sees hours, not salaries; staff see their own and nobody else’s.
How does it handle exempt and nonexempt staff?
Differently, on purpose — the rules are different for each, and Ember asks each person only for what applies to them.
Do we need Ember Volunteers as well?
No — Staff works on its own. Use both and you get one number most nonprofits build by hand: what a program cost. Paid staff time and volunteer hours, counted against the same work.
